Tears are in her eyes. "I know, but I couldn't do anything... I
don't know what came over me. But I think we have to go back there. It
may be his only chance.
"What?" you ask, dumbfounded.
"He might still be alive. I think he's in that house. I have a
feeling of it. And I don't think we can just leave him there! We've
got to help him!"
"But wasn't he consumed by that - light - or whatever it
was?" you cry.
"Please trust me. I have a feeling. I knocked him down, so it's
my responsibility to get him out." She faced me with defiance in
her eye. "And it's also your fault. You pressed that button that
caused the light to come out of that - thing. We're in this
together."
"What! You pushed him down?" you scream. "He's probably
dead now, and you pushed him for your own life because you brought us
there in the first place!"
