Look more closely at the signs
As you look at the barnacle covered sign, it starts to crumble away
from its post. The useless pieces of wood fall to the ground, expsing
the barren post. Figuring that the sign must have served some
purpose, you choose not to touch the other.

Staring at the hand painted, wooden signs, you see that the "end
of the world..." sign is burnt around the edges, with exceptional
deposits of charred wood at the corners. The other sign, which seems
to beckon you to enter through the door, has small white lumps of a
graty substance attached to the face. Running your hand over the
surface, you conclude that the bumps are barnacles.
