"Sorry you had such a madcap first day, Maria," she
apologizes.
"It's all right, Larken--I actually love solving mysteries. In
fact, if only Fish Breath hadn't stopped Mrs. Kent from finishing her
sentence, we might have gotten one very good lead at dinner," you
answer.
"Really? Tell me!" pleads Larken, making you forget
temporarily that she is a senior girl. You and Bridget explain about
Mrs. Kent's unfinished comment together.
"Really?" Larken asks excitedly. "Well, then, I could
go down and ask her what she almost said...I have senior privleges and
can get into the kitchen."
You and Bridget agree to send Larken and wish her luck, but thirty
minutes later, she isn't back and you're growing worried. What should
you do?
Later that night, about fifteen minutes before the curfew bell is
supposed to ring, Larken comes to check on you and Bridget.
