"He's just about the only good teacher in the whole school,"
Rosa says, and you know she's not exaggerating.
After classes, you, Bridget, and Rosa begin your search, looking for
clues such as locked doors and ransom notes. When you find none of
these, you go to Nurse Johnson's office.
"She's his wife--she'll know what's going on," you predict.
Nurse Johnson, fortunately, does know what happened to her husband,
but the news is not good.
"The cook thinks he started the fire," she sobs.
"Because he has green eyes--she said the person who did it had
green eyes, and she doesn't trust me or my husband because we're
Americans."
"How awful!" you exclaim. "Where is he now?"
"He's here," Nurse Johnson answers, "but he's in the
attic with the servants, keeping a low profile. I wish I knew what to
do!"
"Well, we can help," you say.
Now, what should your plan of action be?
"Bridget, Rosa," you whisper behind the substitute teacher's
back, "meet me after classes and we can look for him
together." Rosa and Bridget readily agree.
