The girl's brow creases. "If that means who I think it
does..."
"It does," Nurse Johnson interrupts. "Poor girl."
"Well, OK, but watch yourselves in the future," the senior
girl says as she leaves.
"Who did she mean?" you ask when the girl is gone.
"One of our girls--a student. It's constant, really...headache,
muscle aches, fevers, colds...she's a hypochondriac and it's getting
on my nerves," Nurse Johnson says. "Keeping the whole house
awake, scaring everyone to death..."
"A hypo-what?" Bridget asks.
"Someone who constantly thinks they're sick when they're
not," you explain.
"Oh--you don't think this girl could have anything to do with the
mystery, do you?" Bridget whispers so only you can hear. You
whisper back,
"I don't know, but we can find out."
You and Bridget excuse yourselves then, on the trail of a new lead,
and go to...
"A plan to treat someone who is sick," you say.
