"Oh? Why is that?"
"Because we were locked in a back closet," Bridget pipes up.
She proceeds to explain the story of how the two of you were locked in
just before the trial.
"And what do you want me to do?" the headmistress asks
caustically.
"Only what is just and fair," you say, hoping that that
little speech worked.
It did.
"Well, all right," Ms. Fishburn grunts. "I'll bail your
precious English teacher out of jail, but if I don't know who really
started that fire in two days, the guilty verdict stands."
"I see," you say, "but with all due respect, Ms.
Fishburn, I think you only heard one side of the story at the
trial."
