You forge ahead
"Hello? You still there?" You shout, hoping the voice won't
answer you, that it was all in your head.
"I am always here." You swallow. The voice feels like ice
and stone.
"Well, do you mind giving us some light? And telling us the way
out?" You ask hesitantly.
"And telling us where Dave is?" Barbara whispers. The voice
chuckles.
"I would. But why should I lose such a good snack? It's been such
a long time..." Barbara screams as something tries to grab you.
You kick it away and run across the basement, blindly, pulling her
along behind you. Suddenly, you see a light ahead and stumble towards
it. Whoever, or whatever, it was screams in rage as you tumble into
the light, onto the hill behind the castle. You and Barbara huddle
together. It's not following.
"We should get help," Barbara tells you.
"No. There's no time. We need to find Dave before he's monster
food!!" You cry, leaping to your feet.
"Don't be absurd!" Barbara shouts back. "Look at you!
What are you going to do?!"
Good question. What are you going to do?
You and Barbara stumble down the stairs in the gloom. She's shaking
beside you and you're struggling to deny that this is way creepier
than it should be.
