"Larken!" Rosa exclaims.
"Larken, that's nuts!" you protest. "Ms. Fishburn would
have your head for that!"
"Maybe," Larken concedes, "but Mr. Anderson is one of
my favorite teachers and I WON'T let him be punished for a crime he
did not commit."
"OK," you agree. "We're in."
Secretly, you, Rosa, and Larken return to the school and round up
Nurse Johnson and a few other girls. You then return to the jail,
signs in hand, and start shouting slogans and marching. Within five
minutes, the warden is on the scene, looking furious. So
you...
"We can't deal with this alone," Larken says. "We're
going to need help. We're going back to Ellen Brown, and then I'll
talk to Nurse Johnson. Meanwhile, you girls talk to Bridget and all
the others who you know for sure you can trust and are on our side.
We're not taking this lying down...we're mounting an old-fashioned
marching, slogan-shouting, sign-waving protest!"
