Corwin sighed. This wasn't the first time something like that had
happened. When he was twelve, he and another boy were kidnapped from
the Jedi Temple. Later, some mysterious girl helped them out.
" I sure wish she was here right now!" the frustrated Jedi
muttered struggling again. Aragon had always told him to watch his
judgement. He wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for that! At
last Corwin was able to pull himself up to a sitting position. He
heard the slow rumble of the engines beneath him stop.
" We must be on Malastaire." Corwin thought to himself. When
he was knocked out, he heard some voices mentioning something about
Lord Xarog being on Malastaire.
Suddenly the door to Corwin's cell opened. A tall broad shouldered
figure stepped in. Corwin had a strange feeling that he had seen him
somewhere before.
" Get up!" the figure ordered.
" Does it look like I can!?" Corwin shot back. He was
racking his memory trying to remember.
The figure crossed the cell in two strides and jerked Corwin up by his
shoulder. " Headstrong coward I suposose!" the figure
sneered. " Well you'd better can it. You wouldn't want to know
what happened to the last one!"
" The last one?" Corwin thought bristling. " If they'd
just give me my lightsaber I'll show them who's the last one!!"
But he let himself be led through a series of long hallways by the
strange figure.
At the end of a hallway, Corwin was shoved roughly into a room. A man
in black armor stood there motionless.
" Good work Darian." he said to the figure holding Corwin.
Darian stepped away, bowing.
The man slowly turned around facing Corwin. " Well my prisoner,
tell me all you know about a girl named Ka'aroan." he said
smirking.
" Ka'aroan?" Corwin thought furiously, " I'm never
going to tell that man anything!" he stood silently glaring at
the dark man.
" My patience is short..." The dark man growled.
" Why don't you let me go you coward!!" Corwin interrupted
him. " Or are you afraid to fight me!!!"
" Nobody calls Lord Xarag a coward!!" the man shouted. He
leaped at Corwin red lightsaber blazing. Corwin could only gasp as a
lightsaber rammed into his side. Before he colapsed to the floor he
felt two more short blows to his shoulder and neck.
" You're a feisty one.." Lord Xarog sneered. " I almost
feel sorry that I did that!"
Corwin reeled back in pain as Lord Xarag kicked him sharply in his
wounded side. He could not take a deep breath because his lungs were
filled with blood. Each movement sent a fresh wave of pain surging
through his body.
Lord Xarag looked into the Jedi's eyes. They were filled with pain and
anger. And yet there was also a slight touch of hope.
" Hmmm... You won't die easily.." Lord Xarag muttered in
disgust." I guess you'll make a good slave then!!!" He
gathered the Dark Force above his head mingling it with Corwin's last
enrgy. The apprentice's last free thought drained from him as the
Dark Force took over. Lord Xarag laughed hard as Corwin's eyes became
blank giving in to his will......................
Aragon's apprentice, Corwin, colapsed breathing heavily. He hoped
Aragon heard his desperate message. Corwin sat up and tried to
struggle out of the ropes that bound him. He was unsuccessful. He
colapsed again. Rolling over on his back, Corwin tried to remember how
he had gotten into this mess. The last thing he heard was Aragon's
yell of anger. Then there was a sharp blow from his side. He had tried
to block it with his lightsaber, but he shifted his balance and weight
to his left foot. The attacker had come from the right. Somebody else
then hit him on the head.
