You miss him by a mile
Darth Maul stands up, grinning broadly and chuckling evily. The dumb
thing is, he thought he just outsmarted you. You fire again, and kill
him. You rush over to Qui-Gon Jin. He is okay, however injured, and
begins to talk.
"Obi Wan. Darth Maul's troops are all over the place. I can
sense it. We have to get out of here."
Now what?
The laser bolt flies through the air at break-neck speed toward Darth
Maul, but he ducks and it harmlessly hits a wall.
