Without warning, an eight-foot-tall dog leaps out fom the dogwood (and
this is without standing on his hind legs)! Suddenly it dawns on you:
the dogwood grows full dogs, not just their heads! The dogs can just
hop off whenever they feel the need! The angry dog leaps on you at
full speed. You hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. The dog is
panting and drooling now, ready for his feast, his face inching closer
to yours...
You can't bear to watch - closing your eyes and turning your head, you
wait for his first bite. A warm, wet gooey tongue hits your face...
you're still alive!!??? Well, you aren't dead yet! You gradually get
up, the dog still licking you. "Ruf!" he barks happily.
Maybe he wants to come with you. It seems like a good idea... there
may be some wild ones, and he'd be good protection. You'll have to
talk it over with Kerri.
While you are examining the dogwood, the dog head on top begins to get
a bit suspicious. It lets out a low, angry growl. You begin to step
back, because you realize this forest isn't quite as safe and happy as
it had seemed at first.
