“As I was walking through the woods this morning, I heard someone
crying out in pain. There you were propped up against a tree. You’re
head was bleeding. I tried to ask you what happened, but you fell
unconscious, so I brought you back here.”
“ Who are you? ” you whisper. “Where am I ?”
“You are someplace safe,” the woman replies.
She finishes bandaging you head, then gets up to leave. You have so
many questions, but your head is spinning, and you can’t think
clearly.
“I’ll be back. You must rest now.” with that the woman seemingly
disappears.
Did she leave? She didn’t open the door? where would she go? Your head
begins to hurt so you close your eyes and almost immediately fall
asleep.
You awake what seems days later to the sound of the door opening
again. The woman enters carrying food.
“ Before I feed you, please answer one question” she
pauses.
The door slowly creaks open. The room is so dim that all you see is
a figure draped in white. As the figure approaches you realize it is a
woman. She is wearing a white cloak and holding a bowl of water. You
begin to speak, but she puts her finger to her lips in an effort to
silence you. You lie back and close you eyes, hoping this is all a
dream. The woman sets the water on the night stand, and begins to tend
to your wound. As she does this, she begins to explain what happened.
