"It's pretty packed today, so there aren't any sleeping bags or
earplugs out for rent. I hope you enjoy you sleep, anyway!!!"
The hobbit leaves you and walks over to the desk.
After a few hours, you fall asleep, lulled into dreamland by the
talking and laughing.
You wake up look around you. The clock on the wall says it's 7:03. The
Inn is already packed with people of all races. When the manager, the
same hobbit as last night, sees that you're awake, he comes over to
you and says that you have a message.
"Who is it from?" you ask.
"I think Non-Magic Human Association of Moodara. Not totally
sure, though. Also, it would usually cost 5 Credits to get a message;
since you are a hero, I'll let you have it for free. Here it is."
He hands you a message. You read it.
"I told you that we all got to Moodara the same way; getting hold
of a Portal Box, and pressing a button, pulling a lever, or something
like that. But I have a VERY important question: did it have this
symbol: ? Please write back at:
Non-Magic Human Association of Moodara,
Mirrorland, Pennkummpice Alley, Door Three.
Or by Uni-mail: [email protected]."
You wonder what to say to hobbit.
"Do you need to mail or Uni-mail him?" he asks.
"Yeah, I would like to. Do you have Uni-mail?"
"Yes, of course!" he chuckles,"If you don't have a
computer with Uni-net access, you usually have a Data-pad. Did he
leave an address?"
"Yes, he did."
"Do you have a Data-pad?"
"No."
"Well, I suggest you get one, but in the meantime, you can use
mine."
He leads you over to the front desk, and in a little comepartment is a
little hand-held computer. He unfolds it, and turns it on. You tell
him the Uni-mail address, and he types it in. You type in the message:
"Yes, that sign was on the Portal Box. Why did you want to
know?"
You send the message and go over to eat. You have bacon and eggs, kept
hot by on a buffet table. The hobbit, after you are done eating, comes
over and tells you that you have a message, and that he printed it
out. It is from the same person that sent the other message. You read
it.
"Hundreds of years ago, 13 souls haunted Moodara. After hundreds
of years of haunting, a wizard finally caught them inside of a portal
box, and put the portal box in another realm. Your realm. Before they
were captured, they put a curse on the box: if that button was pushed,
it released the souls, transported all who opened the box, and create
an open a portal, that would suck in all that got near it.
Since you opened it, you, and anyone else who opened it, is indebted
to capture the souls. Here is how:
You must first get in all the souls, by first getting near them, one
by one, and pressing the button. Then, you must find a lever, and
connect it to the box; then pull the lever. THat will close the
portal.
All mortals who touch the portal box without the Magic Gloves are
sent to Blaqqavoyd. If you touch it without the gloves AND push the
button, you have 90 days to close the portal, and capture the souls.
If you cannot do this, you are sent to Blaqqavoyd. If you do, you do
not have to be sent to Blaqqavoyd.
I sincerely hope you can finish the quest. If you have a Quest List,
you should write all this down. That may also be why Jenny the cow
gave you a hero pen.
One of the souls has been spotted in the Haunted Woods.
Good luck!"
You groan. Great! Another thing you have to do!
Suddenly, something seems wrong. You notice all thew talking has
stopped. A mean looking Bounty-Hunter Gnome is standing there.
"I hear we have a hero here, in this town. I also hear that that
hero is a child, and is interfeering with our work. That child was a
human. And that human is... YOU!" he shouts. He points a finger
at you.
The Bounty-Hunters probably ARE holding the witch, you think.
Thre Bounty-Hunter pulls out a Vibro-Axe, and starts walking towards
you. What do you do?
You decide not to spend any money and tell the
hobbit that you would like to sleep on the floor.
He leads you over to the fireplace. The floor is carpeted, and it
pretty soft, but you don't have any blankets, or a pillow, so you have
to sleep with your head placed rather uncomfortably on the stone
hearth. You also have to sleep with all your clothes on, because there
are people all around you.
