You are spinning in blackness and a voice is singing in a strange,
honey-like tongue. You suddenly step out onto soft green grass.
You are dressed in a gentle blue gown. Its fabric is velvety and soft.
A woolly gray cloak has been draped across your slender shoulders, and
you don knee-high, glossy black boots.
When you look up from admiring your boots, and finish stroking your
long, silken chestnut hair, your bright blue eyes are met with a sight
that amazes and astonishes you. Your crimson lips open to reveal a big
gape, as you gaze upon the most beautiful city you have ever seen.
Suddenly a voice breaks the still silence: "Who goes there?"
A rather tall person jumps down from a high boulder near the entryway
of the city. "Who are you?" he demands in a voice that he
tries hard to make gruff, yet still sounds rather musical to your
ears. "And where do you come from?"
You stutter, "Um, my name is--uh--my name is Eredwhen. I'm sorry,
but I do not know how I got here," you reply. You notice that his
ears are leaf-shaped.
"Very well, I will take you to see Elrond. He will deal with
you." He lowers his head in a half-bow and beckons you to follow
him.
As you are walking, you ask him, "Sir, what is this place?"
He says nothing. You reach a very tall house-type thing, more like a
small palace. He looks up the winding stairway that leads into the
throne room. "Stay here, I will call you when he bids you to
come. He walks up the winding stairway and dissappears.
After what seems like hours, he comes back and beckons you to follow
him. You walk up the stairs; it seems like there is no end to these
stairs. Finally, you walk into a bright room, filled with golden light
as if they had captured the Sun itself and put it in bottle. After
many minutes, Elrond speaks as you lower your head respectfully.
"Mae Govannen. Well met. I am Elrond. May I ask who you
are?"
You look up and say,"My name is Eredwhen." You finger your
brown hair thoughtfully, and say quickly, "If I may ask, am I in
Rivendell?"
"Why yes, you are in Rivendell." He looks you over and says,
"You do not appear to be at all like someone that would pose a
threat to me; you will stay here, until you are ready to resume your
journey. Arwen, my daughter, would you be so kind as to show Eredwhen
around Rivendell and to be her guide?"
You wish to go back to the ages of Middle Earth, in about the middle
or end of the Third Age, so you can see if this stuff actually
happened.
