Sally had a little trouble with this. "Jack, it's nice, but I
don't think I am the Pumpkin Queen, not now."
"I understand, dear," Jack answered. "Nobody else in
this town really understands love. We've seen more than they have.
Soon, I hope they will see everything."
"What do you mean?"
"Ever since Christmas Eve, I have been back to the doors--"
"But I thought you promised never to go there again!"
"I promised I would never take over another holiday. I've been
to the doors many times. After Santa gave us snow, it occured to me.
We in the holiday world should share holidays. Even the animals from
the mighty vulture to the tiniest spider enjoy Easter and Christmas.
Why shouldn't we?"
"How can we?"
"We'll start this way," Jack replied kneeling before Sally.
"Valentine's Day, the holiday of love, is coming up soon. I
would like to take you to that door and marry you, if you would
like."
Sally smiled and took Jack's bony hand. "Oh yes, I'd love
to!"
So they set up a wedding in the Valentine world.
To be continued . . .
After that infamous Christmas Eve when Christmas almost became
Halloween, Jack and Sally had many dates together. They'd go to
Halloween Town's Cinema and watch horror movies (of course).
Sometimes they would sit on the steps of Jack's palace and make up
songs. Most of the time, they'd just sit on that hilltop and look at
the stars. The people of Halloween town didn't know what to make of
it. They started calling Sally the Pumpkin Queen because she was with
Jack so much.
