"Star, you are old enough to know that hunting is a man's
business!" she says. "We shall go and collect some greens
for tonight's dinner, then sew some more clothes for the upcoming
winter.. Later, we shall prepare the nightly fire."
You follow her obediently into the fields, and you spend the next few
hours gathering vegetables. It is a strangely tiring process, and by
the time you finish ferrying your fourteenth basket to the village,
you wish you had never come at all.
Suddenly, you have a brainwave.
"Mother!" you call.
"What is it, Star?"
"I need to go to the toilet."
"Pardon?"
"I mean, um, I need to be excused to go to the lavatory."
"Certainly. We will be here for at least another hour, so come
back when you have finished."
"Yes mother," you say. But once you are out of her sight,
you head straight for the large, looming forest to your far left. Of
course you're not going to waste your visit collecting vegetables!
You, whether or not mummy likes it, are going exploring.
"Can I go too?" you ask. Morning Starlaughs, and shakes her
head.
