You push her to the front of the crowd and give her a little
introduction. Then you point to her and she starts doing a little
solo. It's horrible! She's not only off-key, but she seems to be
inventing notes that no human ears have ever heard. When she's done
singing, there is a long, akward silence. Then all the firemen start
cheering, clapping and yelling, "Encore! Encore!." You can't
believe it.
Kerri has stars in her eyes. She always loved attention. You decide it
would be rude to leave while she's singing, so you stay. You glance at
your watch every once in a while, and pretty you realize she's been
singing for twenty minutes straight. Are you going to shut her up?
Leave without a word? Stick around?
