You slip out of your gown, petticoat, and white slippers. You slide
into the water. It feels so good on a hot day like today. You see some
silvery fish swimming nearby and dive after them, swimming as silently
as possible. They see you comming and quickly scatter. You want to
follow them but you need air.
As you come up for air, you hear footsteps. You hide in the reeds as
you see a young man come closer to you. He is a handsome young man who
appears to be seventeen with long brown hair in a braid. He comes
closer, and you can see his eyes. They are a brilliant cobalt blue
that make him look like a child. He sees your pearl blue dress and
petticoat lying on the grass. Next to them are your white slippers. He
picks them up.
"Good sir," You call from behind the reeds, "Please put
down my clothes and leave." He looks around.
"Fair maiden who these clothes belong to, come out so I may gaze
upon your beauty." You can feel the color rising in your face.
Your heart beats faster and you think, "Beauty? Am I really
beautiful?" You slowly swim over to him, making sure to cover
everything below your neck. He backs away from the bank, turning
crimson. You are also a brilliant shade of red as you swim a little
closer to him. You stare at each other for a minute before he talks to
you.
"Fair maiden, what are you doing in the pond?"
"Good knight, I was swimming. May I ask what you are doing
here?"
"I am going off into the Mists to fight the dragon and make a
name for myself."
"May I come?" You ask nervously.
"Yes, you may come. But get dressed." He turns around and
you get out of the water. You slip on your clothes and shoes and
prepare to go into the Mists with the young knight.
