You don't have time to wonder what he means. Your feet and legs are
moving faster than you ever thought possible. They feel like they are
made of lead. Your knees begin to ache and you calves are burning.
You just want to stop- to lie down and catch your breathe. You slow
your pace.
The boy pulls at your hand. You know you can go no further. You are
spent.
"I...just...can't...keep...running..." you manage to get out
between hurried breaths.
He looks at you with concern. "Lie against my back," he
says. "I will carry you."
"Don't ever look back!" says the boy. "You'll never
make it if you don't trust in me!"
