She started going to school at seven. She showed how academically
smart she was. She was at the head of the class, especially in
reading and grammar (since she already had taught herself to read).
Her big problem was making friends. She really didn't know how to
communicate with them. So, most of the time, she was pretty much a
loner. Kids even teased her a bunch, and she went home crying often.
One day, the Force inside her snapped.
It was when a new boy came. His family moved in from another planet!
Rayna thought that was fascinating! Yet, her peers centered on
another sad fact. They were pushing the boy around while dancing
around him in a circle and singing, "Jenny, Jenny, Jenny, worth
less than a penny!"
Rayna listened to their mocking laughter and burned with anger.
"Hey, stop!" she yelled.
"Look, it's that stupid Rayna!" one kid sneered.
"Let's get her, too!"
The kids ran towards her, but she raised up both of her hands.
"I SAID STOP!!!!!!!!!!" And they did stop. They were
frozen in their positions. The new boy stared at Rayna. He was
wearing some loose, brown robes and strange looking glasses. He was
short and kinda mousey-looking, but Rayna didn't mind.
"How'd you do that?" he asked.
"I'm not exactly sure. Sometimes, I think things, and they come
true," she answered.
"I know what you mean. I know people who do magic things like
that, too. I wish I had that power."
"Who knows? So, why were they calling you 'Jenny?'"
"Well, it's my name."
Rayna stifled a giggle, but then looked at him at concerned.
"You can't be serious."
"Actually, it's Jinn. Qui-Gon Jinn."
"I'm Rayna. I'm very glad to meet you,
Qui."
Rayna grew. She began to talk more often, and she seemed more or less
normal. She expressed more desire to explore her powers. Pleu wasn't
sure if she wanted to be a Jedi, but he didn't mind anymore. He
understood her problem, and he felt the Force could make some
exceptions to the rules, such as that fear thing.
