Clefairy does its best at a "two thumbs up" gesture, but it
can't seem to figure out which one is its thumb, so it jumps up and
down in ecstacy (which means happiness for the imbeciles). So does
Katy's Oddish since it doesn't even have hands, much less thumbs.
"Well then partner, I guess we'd better get going if we wanna
find any Pokemon," says Katy.
"Good idea," you agree. Katy gets Oddish back in its Poke
Ball while you help Clefairy into your backpack.
"Just one thing," Katy says. "Have you got a map?
Oddish decided to eat mine."
"Sorry, I'm lost too," you say, "Clefairy ate
mine."
"Well then, we'll just have to run in one direction until we get
someplace." You nod in agreement.
So you run and run and run and run and run. But then you get to a
river. Katy sees it in time and stops. While you're wondering why she
stopped, you fall in the river. It's a deep one, but you see something
at the bottom. A lot of movement. But before you can check it out, two
things happen. You run out of breath and a Squirtle comes out of the
water right in front of you.
You climb up onto the shore and send out - who else? - Clefairy.
"Clefairy, sing!"
"Clefairy, clefairy!"
Squirtle has just climbed out of the water, but it promptly falls
asleep and you catch it. Katy seems impressed - again.
"How long have you been at this?" she asks.
"Just today."
"Wow. How many Pokemon have you got?"
"Let's see, I have Weedle, Clefairy, Zubat, Jigglypuff, and
Squirtle. And," you add, "there's something at the bottom of
this river. I'll have to wake Squirtle up so I can swim down
there."
"I'm coming too."
"How?"
"Staryu can swim too, you know."
You sigh. "All right, we'll both go. How long can you hold your
breath?"
"OK, I'll go with you," you say.
