You wait in the tunnel

for Meldibar to finish putting his belongings in his pack. While you wait, you look around for other useful items. You notice a bow and a quiver of arrows, but the bow needs a new string. A long, nasty looking spear leans in a corner. A light weight suit of mail hangs on an outcrop of stone.

When you look more closely, you also see a ruby-hilted dagger, a small elfin sword, and a mace partially buried in a pile of old clothes.
