You start sweating a cold sweat. Your arm gets really cold and then
tingly and then it hurts. You fall to the ground outside.
The next thing you hear is sirens. You open your eyes and notice that
you are in an ambulance. You shut your eyes for what seems like a
moment, and awake to see a kind looking man standing in front of you.
"Son, you had a heart attack. I'm your doctor. So tell me, what
is your name and where do you live?"
You say, "My name is Evan, and I live in my parents'
basement." The doctor looks down and says, we are going to have
to get the social worker for this one. Your living situation just
doesn't sound right."
You are scared. You don't want to social worker to take you away from
your home. Everything scares you except for the basement. But on the
other hand, maybe you will find another place that doesn't scare you.
Or even better, maybe you will get over your fears.
Should you wait for the social worker? Or should you do something
else?
You are so frightened by this prospect of time travel. Everything
scares you. That is, everything scares you except the basement. You
have been living in the basement below your parents' house for the
last five years. The only time that you leave is when you go to the
grocery store to do the food shopping.
