"No, Rayna," he said, "you must never be afraid! My
master always said, 'Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate
leads to suffering.' If you want to become a Jedi, you can't
fear!"
The girl never made eye contact with him. She just stood there
rigidly.
"Are you listening to me? Rayna, look at me!"
She didn't look at him; on the contrary, she looked in the opposite
direction. Pleu was about to punish her, but some voice inside him
(the Force?) told him not to, told him she couldn't help it. He shook
his head and wondered for a moment what he should do. Finally, he
took Rayna's hand.
"Come with me, Rayna. I'm taking you to see an old
friend."
They were outside practicing when some kind of rocket bomb fell on an
open field. No one was hurt, but Rayna screamed and ran behind her
father. Her heart was racing, and she was shaking like a leaf. He
pulled her aside.
