"What's the matter, Ash?" Tracy asked.
Ash only mumbled, "This is where I lost my Butterfree."
"Oh yeah," Misty remembered.
"What, did the Butterfree die?" Tracy whispered.
"No, Ash let him go for the Season of Love."
"Oh, I see. I'm sorry Ash."
"Do you want to pull ashore for a while, Ash?" Misty
suggested.
"Sure."
So, Ash landed his Lapras on the shore and called it back. He sat
down at the foot of a tree to grieve. He told his pokemon that
Butterfree might come back some day. He hoped with all his heart that
it would be true, but he could see that it wasn't. He was sure
Butterfree was happier than ever with his mate, the pink girl
Butterfree he met on that day. He probably didn't remember anything
about Ash. The thought of that made Ash want to cry more than
anything. Butterfree was so special to him; it was the first pokemon
he ever caught. Ash couldn't even give Butterfree up in a trade.
Suddenly, Pikachu excitedly pulled on Ash's pants' leg.
"Pika-pi! Pika-pi!"
"Not now, Pikachu," Ash muttered.
But Pikachu keep crying out until Ash could understand what he was
saying. "You saw what? Where? Show me!"
Pikachu ran over to a boulder and pointed. Ash saw there . . .
Ash and his friends were floating on Ash's Lapras when they passed by
a familiar set of cliffs. Ash's heart filled with pain. He bowed his
head and sighed. A couple of tears trickled down his cheeks.
