"Ah, you're awake," He smiles "You had me worried
there. That was quite a performance."
"What happened?"
Meldibar frowns.
"You looked into the stone, there was a flash of light, and then
you just collasped onto the floor. Very strange, I've never seen that
happen before: not a lot of people have the strength to look into the
Stone and see what it has to offer."
You feel your head "I don't feel very strong, and it never told
me who I was."
You try to sit up, but Meldibar pushes you back down by the shoulders.
"Easy! Easy! Don't try to move too much. I tried to tidy you up
as best I could and as far as modesty allowed."
"Thank you."
He stares at you again, looking a little perplexed.
"You're a funny little thing, elfling, aren't you? Do you have
any items of magic with you?"
"No, I don't think so..." you pat your pockets and feel the
bulge of the dice, "...all I have is some dice." You pull
them from your pocket and show them to Meldibar.
"Great Jonda! Where did you get them?"
You grin, "I don't know. What are they?"
"The Stones of Faramil, she was a great magician. Those stones
will take me back home," he reaches for them.
You snatch them back and put your hand behind your back. "Not
yet, you said the other stone would tell me who I am."
Meldibar snarls at you, but replies, "Yes, it should have, but
the power of the other stones stopped it."
"So I can give them to you and try again?"
"No, I'm sorry, but the Stone knows that you possess the others
and will not allow you to look again," he looks beseechingly at
you. "Please, I must return home. I have children, a family. Or I
had." He looks darkly angry "Before the Ka'Tali came."
When you wake up you are lying on a bed of skins and your head is
throbbing even more violently than before. You reach up to feel your
head and your fingers brush a bandage wound around your temples.
Meldibar appears at your side, man-shaped, carrying a cup in his
over-large hands. He puts it down on a small table beside the bed.
