Silently you tip poe across the dry lawn toward the front porch. It
was obvious that no one had lived there in a very long time. The
grass, besides its dried up state was long and poky with bare spots
scattered all over the yard. The porch, with its old rusty wooden
boards, was falling apart. Dave went first. Slowly stepping onto the
first step, the wood gave out a low moan under the strain of his
weight. "See," he said, turning back towards me.
"There's nothing to worry... awe!" Before he was able to
finish his sentence, Dave fell through the second step. It showed to
be less co-operative with Dave's weight.
Suprising both of us, we gave out a sharp scream. Dave tried to jump
back, having difficulty because his foot was still stuck in the
shatterd wood that was once the second step. In so doing, he was
swing his arms around in big circles and knocked me over.
Unnoticed to the two of us was a shadow lurking in one of the upstairs
windows.
You catch up to Dave. As you both get off of your bikes, he whispers
to you, "Shh, if there is anyone in there, ghost or not ghost, we
don't want them to know we're here."
