"Come on you guys, what are you staring at?" We shook out
heads, or at least you did, and the strange spell that had seemed to
surround her disappeared, and she looked normal again. You don't know
what it was, but she seemed to have a faint shadow, or darkness
surrounding her features. Hmmm . . . . You don't want to dwell on
this too much and
Grabbing Barbaras' hands, you lead her in the opposite direction,
going away from the haunted house. Shaking free from your grasp she
taunts "What, you scared?" Knowing that this is a clever
bait into which she's trying to trap you, but frankly, not caring, you
detreminedly follow her to the stairs of the haunted castle/house.
A big, iron, claw shaped knocker fills up most of the space on the
doorway. Dave, having followed you and Barbara up the stairs, reaches
for the knocker, and suddenly shudders. His face goes pale, and his
eyes become red. With a little shreik, he runs away screaming in
terror. "Hey buddy, what's the matter, where are you going, you
can't just turn chicken on us and leave?!!!" But he ignored your
shouts.
With a nervous laugh and a quick shrug, you bravely raise your hand to
the knocker, feeling a cold breeze. *knock, knock, knock* you hear,
but you haven't touched the knocker yet. "Let's get out of
here!" Barbara sais, not bravely, "I have an awful feeling
about this place!!!"
You grab Barbaras hand, and taking a few hurried, panic filled steps,
trip over the last stair, and land face first in dirt. Coughing dirt,
you see Barbara has already taken off before you. Oh no, your mind
screams, she just can't abandon me! But it appears that she has.
Trying to get up you realize that you can't move, did you twist your
ankle? No, you didn't, your whole body is just being restrained by a
unnatural force.
Twisting, and bucking, you just can't move. Suddenly you hear a
noise, a shreik to wake the dead. You can feel sweat running down
your face, but you can't lift your hand to prevent it from running in
rivulets down your head, and into your mouth.
"Ahhhhhh" . . . . What should you do?
She comes back, and watching her closely, you ask "What's the
matter Barbie?" (You always tease her about her name, calling her
Babs, and other names occasionally) When she doesn't answer you, you
and your other friend take a closer look at her face, she has a
strange quality about her, that you can't quite name. But there is
definitely sometthing different about her.
