chapter 2:The return of a close friend
"Well, if you catch this Metapod, you can start this Butterfree
business anew," suggested Misty.
"It won't be the same, but I think I'll do it anyway." He
picked up a pokeball to throw, but then they heard a crackling noise.
"It's hatching!"
The Metapod broke open, and a baby Butterfree gently flew out. The
threesome were amazed at this Butterfree! Unlike most Butterfree,
whose wings are mostly white, this Butterfree had a pink and blue eye
pattern.
"Amazing!" Tracy commented.
"Oh, it's beautiful!" Misty said.
The Butterfree began dancing in the wind and calling in a high-pitched
voice. Ash was at a loss as to what this Butterfree was doing. Then,
he saw them on the breeze coming toward the little guy. They were two
Butterfree flew around the infant. They weren't any ordinary
Butterfree either. One was pink, and one still had a yellow ribbon
tied around his neck.
"BUTTERFREE!" Ash cried out. He had found his Butterfree at
last!

"How'd a Metapod get here?" Ash wondered.
"It is odd," Tracy observed. "Wild Caterpie usually
evolve together. I've drawn Metapod nests before."
