Pain
When you awaken you find yourself...somewhere dark. You are lying on
your back, and above your head are twinkling lights that look similar
to stars.
You struggle to your feet. Your head throbs painfully, and you feel
dizzy. You put out a hand to steady yourself. You feel something, and
try to rest your hand upon it. A sharp pain in your fingertips forces
you to draw back your hand.
"Where am I?" you say out loud, expecting no answer, but
saying it anyway, as it makes you feel much better.
"You are in Edmyom, child," says a husky voice.
You spin around in surprise, and look every which way to see the
voice. Then you spot him.
What you see does not really shock you--a tall, dark man, gazing at
you with black, beady eyes. He stands and makes his way over to you
lazily. "Adona, what are YOU doing here?" he breathes, into
your ear, as he has walked to your side. His breath smells like he
smokes a pipe occasionally. You move away from him.
"What AM I doing here?" you ask, looking at him with
distrust.
"Adona." The man sighs. "Don't you REMEMBER ME?"
"No," you say, shaking your head.
"But I'm EDOMIYA! Your best friend--and fianc�! SURELY you
remember me, darling!" he says, looking at you and shaking his
head pitingly.
Feel pain. Excruciating pain. The room swims, then finally you fall to
your knees and black out.
