You hear a soft murmuring from another room. The door to your room is
closed. You creep over to it and glance out. You see:
To your great relief, either there is no one in the house or they did
not hear because no one comes. You rise. The floor is quite cold,
and you're glad the wood-burning stove is blazing hot, warming your
cheeks. You wonder briefly where your shoes have gone.
