"Janessa!" Harun says sharply.
Janessa snaps out of her rant and becomes calm again, and in a quieter
voice says, "Yes, yes, of course, you're right. I just thought
succession might be easier for you if it was thought that she died of
natural causes. But no one would suspect me of wanting to poison her,
and in any case it's the rulers who make the rules. Very well.
She'll die tonight. The kingdom will be yours, and Thibault will be
mine."
She gets up and pours some water on the fire. The image vanishes.
You dart away and return to your room to plot your next
move.
"A servant isn't supposed to have her own desires!" Janessa
says. She is near to tears. "She's supposed to desire only her
mistress's happiness! Or at most, she can find romance with one of
the kitchen boys!"
