What if Barbara is gone for ever. Then you'll have to live with the
fact that you could have, but didn't, rescue her.
"How did I know this was going to be a bad day?" You ask
yourself.
You peddle over to the old castle as smoothly as you can with the fact
that you know your friend's life is in your sweaty hands.
A rabbit hops right past you and nearly fell off your bike startled.
"Barbara?" you asked the empty yard.
"Hooo!" Was all the answer you got. It was from an owl that
seemed to be watching your every move.
Now it is certain that you'll have to go inside the haunted castle.
You hop off your bike.
"Come on, Barbara. I'm not joking around, here. You have five
seconds to come out or I'm calling the cops. One...two...three."
You say, thinking what that cops would say when you say that your
friend disappeared in a haunted house. What would her parents say?
What would your friends think of you? "Four...four and a half.
Last chance! Five! All right I'm leaving!"
Threatening doesn't work. Besides, Barbara's not the joking kind. You
used to like that. Now you wish she was. You're not really brave
enough to go tell the cops. That was just a threat. You're going in.
Maybe Barbara just fell off her bike. That's why she screamed. But
where did Dave go?
