You clasp it tighter in your hand. You don't want to lose this.
Where -- WHEN -- should you go? You continue walking, thinking about
all of your options. The middle ages... ancient Rome... the Civil
War... prehistory, even. You can go anywhere... where do you start?
Suddenly, you feel a burning feeling in your hand, and you drop the
object again -- it's HOT!
Then you remember the crack, and you look around desperately for it.
You can't let it break!
Then you take a step forward and hear a loud CRACK! and, before you
can react, you feel yourself pass out.
*******************************************
You awaken slowly. The first thing you realize is that you have a BAD
headache... and the second is that you're somewhere different.
You sit up and look around. At first you think you're inside
somewhere, but then you realize that you're in a cave. It's dark, but
you can see a beam of light in the distance.
You cautiously stand and step forward, and eventually you step out of
the mouth of the cave and emerge into the light.
You're standing on a narrow, rocky ledge overlooking the sea. The sky
is cloudy, but the day is bright anyway. Looking behind you and up,
you see a steep cliff stretching high above you.
Where are you?
You study the piece of metal in your hands more closely and you notice
it's cracked where it wasn't when you first picked it up. Strange...
it must be more fragile than you thought.
