You sit in the old wooden chair. It is horribly uncomfortable. You
open the cover of the old book carefully, so as not to destroy the
molded pages. It reeks of perservative that has long since worn off,
but left its odor behind. The first page of the book is
indechiperable. Nothing makes sense. Though you can read the words,
most are too small or seem like gibberish. Using the crystal as a
magnifying glass, you read the small print. More gabbaldygook.
Finally, at the bottom of the page, when you slide the crystal over
it, unseen enegry gathers in the center of the crystal, causing you to
flinch. Slowly, the letters rearrange to spell out: "Welcome, ye,
to the tome of knowledge. From here, run the crystal over the names of
the places ye wisheth to visit."
Ah, magic! You remember something more about the crystal. It's
magical! Sliding it over the name of a certain castle you've heard
about in bard's tales, you feel the magic gather for the
teleportation.
