"What must we do?"
The Goddess sits down, and the rest of you do also.
"First, I will take you to Dremwick. You see, Dremwick is under a
curse. To break it we need the charms of each of the fourteen
goddesses. You will need to visit each of the Goddesses and retrieve
their charms. Then you must bring them to the Castle of Dremwick, and
give them to the Butterfly Sorceress. Beware, evil lurks everywhere,
and Garamond, the Queen who set this curse upon the land, will be
trying ever so hard to keep you from completing this task."
You glance at Dave and Barbara in amazement, then turn your attention
back to the Vampire Goddess as she continues.
"You will get a charm from me, but then you will need to visit:
The Light Goddess
The Moon Goddess
The Goddess of Motherhood
The Time Goddess
The Fire Goddess
The Earth Goddess
The Wind Goddess
The Water Goddess
The Millennium Goddess
The Tree Goddess
The Goddess of Life
The Goddess of Death
and of course,
The Unicorn Goddess."
You frown cynically.
"But that is not all!" The Vampire Goddess says. "After
entrusting the charms with the Butterfly Sorceress, you will need to
visit five guardians:
The Guardian of Magic
The Guardian of Truth
The Guardian of Choice
The Guardian of Fate
and lastly,
The Guardian of Love."
You hear Dave pretend to gag. He stops quickly when the Vampire
Goddess glares at him. When he is quiet, she says,
"Each Guardian should give you a magical pouch, containing their
most prized possession. Only with all of these things can we break the
curse."
The Vampire Goddess looks momentarily sad, but gets back to business.
"Now," She says. "I will give you my charm. I trust you
will get it to the Sorceress."
She hands you a burgundy pouch, about the size of the palm of your
hand. You open it and pour out the contents. It contains only on
thing--A black polished stone with the words "Vampire
Goddess" painted on it in silver. You slip it back into the bag.
You look up into her pale face and say truthfully,
"We will complete this quest, Goddess."
Her red lips smile, and Dave adds,
"Yes, we will."
Barbara says quickly,
"Of course!"
"Good," The Goddess replies. "Oh! I forgot to tell you
something. Each charm has magical powers that you may use in times of
trouble. Mine has the power of Invisiblilty. But I should tell
you--only the holder can use the power, and you--" She looks
directly at you, "--are the holder. The power is, for now, yours.
Goodbye my children."
She disappears.
You gasp at the idea. But Dave says,
