Returning to your own time, you rush to the reference desk and ask one
of the librarians for a copy of the June 18th,1972 edition of the
Washington Post. You then take the paper to a reading table and sure
enough, you see this story at the top of the front page:"Acting on
an anonymous outside phone tip,a security guard at the Watergate Hotel
last night discovered White House aide E.Howard Hunt and four exiled
Cuban nationals apparently ransacking the Democratic Party national
headquarters. When questioned by police, the guard remembered the
anonymous caller saying that, quote,'the future of America depends on
you checking out that room'.The five suspects have all been arraigned
on suspicion of burglarly...."
...and though he's not quite sure what to make of your statement that
the future of America depends on it,he agrees to check out the
room. After he hangs up,you call the Washington Post and tell the main
news desk that something funny's going down at the Democratic Party's
offices at the Watergate Hotel, describing again what you saw through
the window.
