Answer the man
"Well . . . ." you start, but the man interrupts you.
"Can't you silly kids leave me alone?! What's wrong with
you! I was just about to teleport. I need some very important
material, and if I don't get them quick, the concoction will explode.
Now if you don't mind, I'll go back to work, and I'll take that button
too."
"Wait sir, we are really very really sorry! Maybe we can
make up for interrupting you. What do you need?" Dave asks
politely, with a wink at you.
"A kid like you would happen to be carrying gold? Give me a
break, this is the 27th century, not the 20th, where tose silly people
used it as decorations!" the man retorts.
"I thought most normal people know that this is the 20th
century, and I'm not silly. I have a ring," Barbara puts in here
sourly. "It's made of gold, but why in the big, large world
would I give it to a person like you! Besides, my Aunt Ami gave it to
me." Barbara cradled the ring in her hands.
"By the honorable name of my mother. That meddling
apprentice, Barney must have done something to send that valuable
button that should be in the 27th century! No, that's impossible.
He's way to unimportant,unintelligent,stupid, foolish, and uneducated
to have that kind of magic. Girl, you must have summoned the button
to your time. You must be the Chosen One. Only you can stop the
crisis in my time, the 27the century. I apoligize greatly. Follow
me," he says, and he thrust the palm of his hand foward. There
was a flash of light, and the pillar expanded, leaving enough room for
the three to join him.
You, Dave and Barbara look at each other in surprise. You all
become serious and wonder whether or not to follow him.
"Well hurry up! You musn't keep the Grand Master waiting.
He'll be wanting to see you. By the way, my name is Cornelius. You
and your servants, supposedly can come. The Chosen One must be
protected," the man smiled. He looked at you and Dave. "It
must be a great honor to be acquainted with such a honorable person.
Now follow me, and hurry. The Grand Master will be waiting."
He took the button, and waited.
