"I didn't, madame," you try to explain.
"Liar! I saw you!"
You can't exactly argue with the headmistress, but your reputation is
at stake.
"Madame, I only wanted to see who really did it. I myself did not
commit that crime," you repeat.
"Well, until it can be proven whether you are telling me the
truth," Ms. Fishburn says, "you will sleep in the attic with
the servants. No dinner, either--nothing, in fact, until the
investigation is finished."
Oh, great. You've had it now--but now you know you HAVE to solve this
mystery, and fast! But how?
The entire school watches as you and the headmistress exit the dining
hall and head for her office--a gloomy room with little color, you
notice...strict as the school itself. Once inside, the headmistress
closes the door and demands that you tell her why you started the
kitchen fire.
