GIRLS--IT IS NOT SAFE TO MEET OUTSIDE MY CLASSROOM--IT COULD RAISE
SUSPICION. PLEASE MEET ME IN THE INFIRMARY. MY WIFE IS THERE AND WILL
JOIN US.
-MR. ANDERSON
Rosa takes the note, burns it with her candle to destroy any evidence
that anyone has been there, and leads your group to the infirmary,
where the Andersons are waiting.
"Oh, girls, good...you got my message," Mr. Anderson
whispers when you arrive. "My wife and I have discussed it and
have decided what we want you to do."
"OK, shoot," Bridget whispers back.
"We're going to split up. Maria, you stay with Grace--I mean
Nurse Johnson--here. She's going to tell you about Della Drummond, as
she thinks she might be involved in the mystery. Bridget, please go to
the kitchen and look for evidence as to who started the kitchen fire.
if you run into Mrs. Kent, question her, but otherwise, say nothing to
anyone. Rosa, I'm relying on you to help me. You're a drama whiz. I'm
going to disguise myself as a servant so that I can get some of my own
sleuthing done tomorrow. Can you give me some tips on acting the
part?" asks Mr. Anderson.
"Sure thing," says Rosa.
"OK. We'll all meet in the teacher's lounge in an hour...do you
girls know where it is? Great...good luck!" With that, Mr.
Anderson, Rosa, and Bridget head in different directions, leaving you
alone with Nurse Johnson.
Nurse Johnson explains that Della is a frail, imperious, disagreeable
girl who likes to scare everybody at Ellen Brown School for Girls to
death by pretending to be ill--in other words, she's a hypochondriac.
Nurse Johnson tells you that she wants you to help her investigate
Della, as she has reason to believe that Della is behind all the
school crime.
Just as the nurse is telling you this...
You go with Bridget and Rosa thirty minutes after curfew that night to
Mr. Anderson's classroom, having sneaked out of the dorm through the
back way. However, when you get there, you find a note under the
door--
