"Good! Mother says dinner is ready, if you feel well enough to
join us," says the boy.
You stand and look puzzled, since you cannot connect the word
"Mother" to a face in your memory.
"Kai? Is anything wrong?" the boy asks. "It's me,
Killen, remember? Your twin brother?"
"I don't remember," you say.
Killen looks upset. "Father was afraid of this! He said the blow
to the head you suffered could result in memory loss. Don't you
remember anything?"
"I remember following a shadow, but only vaguely. Then I awoke in
an alley, and you can to my rescue. But I do not remember who you are
or who I am or anything," you say.
"Oh, Kai," Killen says. "Come out to dinner and we'll
see if we can jog your memory any. If not, Mother, Father, and I will
fill you in on everything."
"I-I'm fine," you stammer.
