"Dave!" you scream to make sure he is still there.
"I'm here," he calls back. Relieved you realise that he
isn't as far away from you as you originally thought he was. "I
though we were only three flights up!" he says.
"So did I, but we've fallen more than that already." you
reply in amazment. "Are we going to keep falling forever?"
No sooner do the words leave your mouth than you land with a
"thud". Dave lands on top of you.
"Ouch," you scream. "Get off me Dave!" you shove
him off and he yelps in pain. "Sorry bud, you okay?"
"Yeah, but what the heck did I just land on."
It's pitch black, neither of you can see your hand in front of your
face. You slowly stand up and feel around. The walls are cold, damp
and very rough. They feel like stone. Slowly your eyes begin to adjust
and you can see Dave's dim outline in the blackness. You don't seem to
be damaged by the fall.
"I think I'm bleeding," Dave says panic in his voice.
"Calm down Dave, lets see if we can find some light from
somewhere. There's a dim light coming from thet direction, let's see
what's over there. Can you walk?"
"Yes, but my leg hurts."
"Well, if you can stand on it it isn't broken. Come on I'll help
you." You help Dave to his feet and through his arm over you
shoulder as you move to the light. You can't see a thing so you focus
your eyes on the light and walk towards it.
Suddenly..."Splash!" You and Dave are underwater. You come
up spitting and sputtering, pulling Dave up beside you. You realise
with relief that the "water" or whatever it is, is only
waist high. It's a good thing because you can't swim! Dave coughs
beside you and you start wading twards the door. "Where did all
of this water come from," You wonder as you ask Dave.
"How the heck should I know, maybe their toilet overflowed or
they forgot to pay the plummer, lets just get out of this."
Slowly the water gets shallow and you come to a ledge and climb out.
Both of you stand up soaking wet and very smelly. There is a stone
archway in front of you from which the dim light cames from. You don't
know how wide the ledge on which you are standing is so you don't move
around too much. You hear a moan and the sound of water moving.
"I though that you said you were okay, Dave," you question.
"Uh...That wasn't me..." he replies with a voice that was
half a whisper.
You look back to the water and can vaguely see a large form, mostly
submerged, swim by you. Suddenly, a huge fireball bursts out from
under the water and ignites a tangle of vines hanging from the ceiling
of what you can now see very clearly is a cave. With the vines burning
you can now see the entire "room". You glance across the
cave and finally see where you first landed. Spikes! You fell only a
few feet short of being stuck by a huge field of spikes! Remembering
Dave's leg, you quickly look down at it. He was indeed bleeding but
luckily it was only a small cut. Remembering the alcohol you had
stolen from your father's liquor cabinet earlier that day you quickly
take it out of your pocket and poor it on Dave's wound.
"Ahh," he yells.
"Sorry buddy, it had to be done." You rip a piece of your
shirt off and tie it around his leg. "That's going to have to do
it for now," you tell him. "You'll be alright."
"Thanks, now lets get the heck out of here and fast before
whatever that is tries to have us for dinner."
You both head through the stone archway toward the light. You round a
corner, and there in front of you is a burning torch on the wall.
Obviously the source of the light.
"Great, a light," you say taking the torch off of the wall.
You hear another low moan behind you. Dave jerks around. "Look
out!" he screams.
You spin around with the torch in hand and come face to face with the
ugliest thing you have seen in your life!
"Barbara, where on earth did you come from?" you say.
"We've been looking all over for you."
She says nothing but walks slowly toward you, her eyes glazed over.
You take a step back. "Quit fooling around! That isn't
funny!"
"Uh...," Dave groans poking you in the arm. "I don't
think..."
"GRRRRROWWWWW," Barbara lunges for you, she has big dripping
fangs?! Stunned you jump back. Your foot catches a rock and you go
tumbling backwards, knocking Dave over in the process. Both of you
fall to the floor still trying to scurry backwards. Meanwhile
"Barbara transforms into a huge scaly dragon creature, with huge
dripping fangs, and red eyes that look right through you. This is it
there is no way out. Suddenly one of the rocks in the floor moves and
in one quick motion a gigantic iron gate slams down from the ceiling
between the monster and you. The monster is trapped, but so are you,
now you have to go on down the passage. There is no turning back.
Relieved for the moment you try to calm down and look and your
situation. The monster can't get to you. It's growling and snarling on
the other side of the bars. It lets out a loud belch,
"BUUURP!"
You start to laugh in spite of yourself, then suddenly you remember
the cave...
"Run!!!" You scream to Dave.
"What?!!" he says in confusion.
Just then a huge fireball comes blasting through the bars. The bars
hold up, but if you don't move fast you will be fried. Both of you run
as fast as you can down the passage. Your hearts are beating in your
throats. You round a corner and push Dave down to the floor. Both of
you lay there with your heads covered as the giant fireball flames
over your head just missing you.
"Whew! That was close!"
Both of you stand up and brush yourselfs off. There is a long hallway
in front of you. There is nothing to do but continue...
"Geronemo!" You hurl yourself into the hole after Barabra,
with Dave right behind you. You feel like you are falling forever.
Falling...Falling...Falling... you can see nothing but blackness. You
can't even see Dave.
