It seems that it has been forever since your last quest in Dreamland.
You check the globe that King Galeideth gave you every day, and all
has seemed well. You haven’t got any mysterious packages or messages
from your beloved Dreamland asking for your help in a dire situation.
But lately though, the image you have seen in the globe has been a bit
different. Elves were getting nasty, and fairies were lashing off at
each other. Residents don’t seem the happy and cheerful lot that they
usually are. But still, you have not received any request from the
king. So, since Galeideth has said that you could return any time that
you wish, you decide to go check on everything.
You search in a drawer in your bureau and see a shining white stone.
Once again, you wish upon it to be back in Dreamland. And again, you
are speedily transported through the rainbow portal leading to
Dreamland. You arrive smack dab in front of the massive Dreamland
Castle. You walk up the clear-crystal steps to the huge wooden door.
You push it open slowly and peer inside. To your utter surprise, the
large purple throne at the end of the long red carpet is empty. And,
the castle seems a bit darker. You think to yourself that this is not
a good sign, and you proceed with caution further into the castle. You
check the Kitchen, but there is no one. So you walk over to the
Ballroom. But still the is no one there. You begin checking
everywhere, the Courtyard, the Theater Foyer, and the Royal Atrium.
When you get to the Atrium, all the flowers that are in there are
wilted and in need of water. But all the places you checked are empty.
There is only once place left, so you head towards the Royal Sleeping
Quarters. You knock on every door, and all are empty. But wait! There
are voices coming from a room at the end of the long corridor. You
approach the door and knock. A voice says, “Who is there?” and you
reply that you are the Hero. Inside, there is an excited murmur. “Come
in, quickly!” says the voice. So you open the door and look inside. It
is a huge room with a large canopy bed in the middle, with about
twenty people sitting around staring at the person on the bed. It is a
young girl, maybe about ten years of age, with flowing fiery red hair
and green eyes. She is very beautiful, however, she looks very ill.
Her face is covered in sweat and her eyes aren’t focused. And she is
scowling and crying at the same time. King Galeideth sits in a chair
next to the girl. He motions for you to sit down in the chair next to
him, so you do. With a weary look on his face, he tells you this:
“Hero, I am very sorry indeed that I have not called you over sooner
to ask of your help, but I have been busy trying to calm down this
girl. She is my daughter, Listiah. You may have seen that residents
here are acting strangely, and flowers and plants are wilting. This is
because my daughter is the goddess of happiness and thriving. She has
been put under a spell that causes her to become angry, and sad too.
When this happens, things such as flowers feel the effect of her
sadness. So plants wilt and die. But it is worse with the residents.
They feel the effect of her anger, and they have become mean, and I am
afraid someone or something might get terribly hurt or even killed
because of this cursed spell! Immediately, when I heard about the
spell being cast, I rounded up as many people as I could find as fast
as I could find them, and cast an anti-anger spell. That is why we are
not affected. But as you could probably could already tell, I could
not save everyone and they have fallen under the effect of Listiah’s
anger. I tried to cast an anti-sadness spell on some plants. It worked
all outside the castle, but when I got to the Atrium, it was too late.
Now, it would have been okay if the Atrium died, I can take care of
re-planting that later. But, it was foolish of me to save all of
Dreamland’s vegetation outside the castle first, because the most
important flower of all was growing in that very Atrium. It is called
the Ridine Bella, and it is one of the ingredients needed to make the
potion to dispel the anger and sadness curse placed upon Listiah. But,
there is hope! Since I did manage to save all of Dreamland’s
vegetation outside the castle, the Ridine Bella can still be found. It
grows only in one area, called the Pristine Paradise Mountain Village.
Pristine Paradise is in a far corner of Dreamland, northwest of
Dreamland Castle. You must find Ridine Bella to make the potion to
cast off the anger and sadness spell. But, you must act quickly! You
have one week to complete this task, for my anti-sadness spell will
wear off then, as well as my anti-anger. Which means the Ridine Bella
flowers will die, along will all other vegetation, and all the
creatures that I managed to save under my anti-anger spell will become
angry. Including me. So you must hurry! But before you leave, I must
tell you a few more important things. First, you must know who did
this to Listiah. No, it was not Alagian, however, it was an old friend
of Alagian, the sorceress Adelleine. Alagian has asked Adelleine to do
this to Listiah. So, you must also defeat her to receive something to
use in the potion to lift the curse. I do not know what that item is,
so you must go visit Solomon, who has not been affected by the curse,
in the Blue Mountains. He knows about all the items to complete this
potion, so you must go see him. Now, to defeat Adelleine, you must use
white magic to counter her black, so you can take the White Crystal.
You will be riding Camelot, who is tied up outside to a tree. Go now
to the Blue Mountains, and talk to Solomon, and he will tell you of
the full quest you must go on. Remember, you only have one short week!
But I know that you, our Hero, will be victorious! Good luck to you!”
After he tells you the sad tale, he hands you the White Crystal and
you leave Listiah’s room. You exit the castle, and you find your old
pal Camelot and mount him, and begin the short ride to the Blue
Mountains. Along the way, you hear two small voices arguing. “You had
better give me that pearberry back you dumb oaf!” said a tiny blue
nanoFairy to a slightly over-weight elf. “No way, you ugly fairy! I’ll
steal all of your precious pearberries! You had better watch out!”
Then the fairy starts buzzing in the elf’s pointy ear. With a loud
smack! he slaps the fairy to the ground. Then he picks up a whole
bunch of the fairy’s pearberries and runs away. You dismount Camelot
and go see if the fairy is okay. When you ask her if she is all right,
she says, “ Ugh! Get away you dirty human! I do not need your help! Go
pick on someone your own size!” With an angry buzz, she flies away.
Hmmm…this curse has affected so many things. Now you realize how
important this is, and you finish the ride up the Solomon’s cottage
nestled in the Blue Mountains. You dismount Camelot and knock on the
door. Inside, you hear Solomon say, “Enter, Hero!” so you push open
the door and step in.
Solomon is sitting on a wooden chair, stroking his long white beard,
thinking hard. When he sees you, he says:
“ Hello, Hero. So we meet again. It is time for you to save Dreamland
again, heh? Well, I will help you out. King Galeideth must have
already told you about the Ridine Bella that died in his Atrium. And
that you must go to Pristine Paradise Mountain Village to retrieve the
flower. But he sent you to me to tell you the other things you need to
make the potion to dispel the curse on Listiah. The are eight more
things besides the Ridine Bella that you need for it. You must get a
Light Crystal. These are sun crystals, and they can be found in the
Light Crystal Cavern in the Crystal Caves. A simple task, for you have
been through the Crystal Caverns before. As you might remember, the
entrance to the Caverns is right near my cottage. Next, you must
gather the enchanted water from the Fountain of Happiness located in
the Temple of Song. The Temple of Song is easy to find. It is in
Soiree Desert. Another item you need to collect is a pearl that comes
from a Clamarina. These creatures are only found in the Sapphire Sea.
An easy way to get a pearl is to travel to the closest beach to
Dreamland Castle, Moonstone Beach. There, you will find a Clamarina.
Also, you must travel high up in the air to Snow Cloud Island. You
must collect some opal snow that falls only there. The goddess that
resides there will give you some, and help you put a stay-frozen spell
on it. Now, you must also retrieve three items from mystical, but evil
creatures; a dragon’s tooth, a unicorn’s horn, and a sea serpent’s
scale. These items will be a bit more dangerous to get, since you have
to battle with each creature in order receive the item, and you must
take a trip to Nightmareland. But fortunately, the can all be found in
one place, appropriately called The Isle of the Myths. It is easy to
get to because if Colossus the Fairy Dragon gives you a ride there, he
can drop you off right near the island. But the last quest is the most
dangerous of all. You must battle Adelleine herself to destroy her and
receive the last item needed to complete the potion. The item is
simply, a drop of Adelleine’s blood. This will bind all the items
together and will make the potion work. Without it, all of these items
are useless. So now that you know what you have to do, are you ready
to go?”
You answer yes to Solomon, and he says, “Good. Take some vials and
containers to collect the various items in. Take this dagger, as you
might need it. This map will help you find your way to all of the
different places you must go. And most important, take this enchanted
shield to counter any magic attacks that may be cast on you. I will
show you to the entrance to the Crystal Caverns in case you have
forgotten the secret way in. And good luck in your quest, Hero!” With
this, both of you get up and walk out the door of the cottage and
stroll over to the secret entrance to the Crystal Caverns. Solomon
pushes a jutting rock and the entrance opens up. Solomon leaves as you
enter the first cave, the Rainbow Crystal Cavern. You wind through all
of the familiar, beautiful caves, like the Molten Crystal Cavern, the
Ice Crystal Cavern, the Dreamland Crystal Cavern, and the Black
Crystal Cavern. All are delightfully pretty, but not as pretty as the
Light Crystal Cavern. As you step into the huge cave, you feel an
overwhelming feeling of happiness. The yellow-golden crystals emanate
a gorgeous sunny light. You know that you cannot stay here long,
however, so you pick a perfectly-shaped crystal and put it in a bag
you brought along with you. You make your way out of the lovely caves
and enter a bright Dreamland.
You check the map for which place looks closest to the Blue Mountains.
It is, in fact, Moonstone Beach. So you mount Camelot and ride off
towards the sea, the air balmy. When you get there, you are amazed at
the tranquil beauty. A brilliant blue sea gently crashes upon pure
white sand. In the distance are cliffs made of clear rock! Birds fly
everywhere, and the sun shines down on the land cheerfully. You
wouldn’t even know that a curse had affected the world. The
peacefulness of the ocean in front of you almost makes you want to
sing! But for now, you have to find a Clamarina pearl. So you search
the shore for any signs of a creature that looks like its name would
be Clamarina. Towards some rocks, you see a huge opalescent creature
that looks much like the giant clams found back at home. It is open,
and inside, you can see the pink flesh. Nestled in the center of the
flesh, is a perfectly round pearl! It is very hard to see, since it is
the same size as a normal pearl. This pearl is vanilla in color, like
no other pearl you have ever seen. You go to retrieve it, but the
Clamarina squirts you with water, right in the eye. You think maybe
that the Clamarina has been affected by the anger-sadness curse. So
you quickly reach in and snatch the pearl, seconds before the
perturbed Clamarina snaps it’s shell closed tightly! Now you have two
items, seven to go.
Checking the map, you see that to get to the Pristine Paradise
Mountains, you must go through the Soiree Desert, which is quite aways
from Moonstone Beach. Well, at least you’ll be able to get water from
the Fountain of Happiness and the Ridine Bella flower easily, since
they are so close to one another. You get on Camelot once again and
you begin to ride through Dreamland Field, towards the Soiree Desert.
It is quite a long journey, and by the time it turns night, you are
tired and hungry. You check the map for somewhere to eat and sleep.
You see that you are close to a place called Gricho’s Inn. So you ride
in that direction and you come to a small building. You dismount
Camelot and tie him up. You enter the inn. Inside, at a counter, there
is a plump man. You ask him if he is Gricho. He says, “Yeah, so what’s
it to you? If you want a room, you had better show me some cash, and
extra for a meal. And I don’t want to hear any noise tonight! And I
don’t CARE IF YOU ARE TIRED! SHOW ME THE MONEY!” Oh no, you think. He
has been affected by the curse, too. And, you don’t have any Dreamland
Currency. But you do have about five dollars from home. Maybe that
will work. You walk over to the counter. Gricho says, “It will be 500
dreamers for a room, and 200 extra for a meal. PAY UP!” So you take
out the five dollars, hoping it will work. You look at the money, but
surprisingly, it has turned into a different currency. On the front of
the bill, there is a picture of King Galeideth. And printed on each of
the five bills is “1000 DREAMERS: IN DREAMS WE TRUST” Gricho takes one
look at the money and his eyes bug out. “Where in Dream’s name did you
get all that money!” I’ll bet you stole it! Now you have to pay double
for the room! I MEAN IT! ROBBER! YOU HAD BETTER LEAVE MY THINGS BE!”
You tell the man that you are not a robber and lie that the money was
a birthday gift. So he says, “Hrmph…I don’t believe you, but whatever!
Fine, it will be 700 Dreamers for a room and a meal. AND IT’S ONLY FOR
ONE NIGHT AND ONE MEAL! DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT ASKING FOR MORE!” You
tell him okay, hand him one of the bills, and tell him to keep the
change. Maybe that will shut him up. He hands you a key and says,
“Your room is number 7, up the stairs and to the left. Your food will
be brought up to you, since you paid extra.” He glares at you as you
start up the stairs. You hear him say, “Well of course that dang
robber paid me extra. Dang cash belonged to someone else. Hrmph!” You
find room seven and unlock the door. Inside is a little bed, and some
shelves for things, a dingy carpet, and a window with a view of
nighttime Dreamland. Not bad, but the money you paid seems too much
for it. You sit down on the bed wearily, and lay down on the soft
pillow, thinking about all the other things you must do in the days to
come. You must have dozed off, because there is an insistent knocking
on your door, with a woman’s voice yelling, “If you don’t open up NOW
you ain’t gettin’ no dang meal!” You get up and open the door. A woman
on the other side has a scowl on her face and she is holding a tray of
food and a drink. She says, “You dang fool! Next time you answer the
FIRST TIME I KNOCK!” She thrusts the tray and cup and you and turns
hastily towards the stairs. You take the food and close the door.
Sitting on the bed, you examine the meal. It is a chicken leg, a bit
burned, some corn, and a baked potato. On the side, there is a small
bowl of some berries that are shaped like a pear and are green and
pink in color. They must be pearberries, the same fruit that the elf
and fairy were fighting over earlier. You eat the chicken, and then
take a swig of your drink, realizing that it is beer. Oh well, you’ll
have to deal. You finish off the meal, and then try some of the
pearberries. They are delicious, tasting of pear and strawberries
combined. Then you settle in the small bed, and are asleep almost
immediately.
In the morning, you awake with the sun shining in the window. You rise
and gather your things, eager to set forth once again on your quest.
You leave the Inn, much to Mr. and Mrs. Gricho’s delight. Oh well,
they will be back to normal soon enough! Unless they are just
naturally crabby. You untie Camelot, and feed him a few pearberries
you saved for him. The you mount him and start towards Soiree Desert.
As you near it, the air gets hotter and drier. After about five
minutes, you are at the edge of a vast golden desert. On the map, the
Temple of Song is right in the center, and at the other end of the
Soiree Desert, the Pristine Paradise Mountains. You ride though the
sunny desert, and after about a half-hour you come upon a
golden-colored building, with a musical note carved into each golden
brick the building is made of. This must be the Temple of Song. You
dismount Camelot and enter the temple. Inside, it is very beautiful.
There are filmy gold curtains draped over the window openings, letting
the hot air and sunshine in. You can hear a faint, lovely tune that
drifts in glorious highs and lows through the air, and you wonder
where it is coming from. On the walls, there are shelves which hold
various items. Golden instruments such as harps, ocarinas, and
mandolins. Sheet music for ancient songs of the gods and goddesses.
Portraits of musicians and singers of the past, and one large portrait
hangs in the middle of all the others. A picture of a woman with
blonde hair and ruby lips, playing the harp. An engraving at the
bottom reads, “Harmony: Goddess of Song.” Then, you realize something.
You were so preoccupied by all the interesting things that you didn’t
see the stone fountain in the center of the temple. The Fountain of
Happiness! The fountain is made of the same golden stone that the
building is made of. A dolphin is spitting the water out of its mouth,
spraying it high into the air, and collecting back in the bottom. You
open a vial and collect the gold-tinted water in it. Then, you realize
that you are thirsty. You think about taking a drink, but it is
enchanted water…what if something happens? But is just water of
happiness, you decide to drink a little. You taste the water, and it
colder and crisper than any water you have ever tasted before, and you
drink greedily. You feel a rush of pure joy. This stuff is great! When
you are done, you go back outside to get Camelot, and lead him through
the doorway, which is large enough for him. He also drinks from the
fountain, and when he is done, you leave, and start through the desert
towards the other side.
The Soiree Desert ends in about another half-hour, and you find
yourself face-to-face with a story-book rendition of what mountains
are supposed to be. The Pristine Paradise Mountains! The mountains are
not too big, snow capped, with trees galore. The sun hangs perfectly
above the mountains, making it an excellent postcard picture! You and
Camelot start up the mountain path, in a lighthearted trot. You travel
for only a little while, and then you arrive at the village. It is a
quaint little town, buildings perfect, and with kids laughing and
playing in the streets. People are selling things and there are
minstrels playing. You wonder why the people were not affected by the
curse. So you enter the village. A man is selling some apples. You
ask him why the whole town wasn’t affected by the curse. He says,
“Well, that’s easy! Our town water system runs straight from the
Fountain of Happiness. So, since the water is magic, we can only feel
happiness and are not affected by unpleasantness. Here! Have an apple
for free! Can I do anything else for you?” You take the apple and ask,
between bites, where you can find the Ridine Bella Flower. He says,
“Well, if you’d like to buy some, the florist shop sells them, but
they are a bit expensive. I can tell you where you can pick them, for
free! Behind that there building is a field full of wildflowers. The
Ridine Bellas grow in only one spot in particular, in one large
cluster. They look bell-shaped and they look as if they are made out
of pure silver. Since I told you this exclusive information, would you
mind picking me some? They are very rare! Only take some!” You tell
the man thanks for everything, and you will be sure to get him a
couple. You run behind the building and find a grassy meadow filled
with flowers. The scent is amazing. You look around for the Ridine
Bellas. After awhile, you see a large cluster of silver bells. You
pick five and then run back into the village square. You give the man
two and you keep the rest. You decide to kick back and relax a bit,
and you but some food and other stuff from shops and street merchants.
After about an hour, you know you must leave. But then you have a
thought. How will the flowers last? Maybe the florist will have a
preservative of some sort. You enter the shop and ask the woman behind
the counter about a preservative. She says, “Well, if you are going to
be traveling a long way, you might want to place a preserving spell on
them. Try the Potion Shoppe!” You thank her and leave the florist, and
head into the Potion Shoppe. Behind the counter in there, there is an
old man with a wizard’s hat on. You ask him about a preserving spell
for Ridine Bellas. He says, “Those sure are special flowers. I have
just the thing. It will cost 50 dreamers.” You hand him the money and
he dusts the flowers with a blue powder. Then he says, “The spell will
last until you put the flowers in water, so don’t worry about them
spoiling. You have a nice day now!” So you thank him and leave, and
then you and Camelot head down the Pristine Paradise Mountains.
When you get out, you realize your next task is to fly up to Snow
Cloud Island. But how will you get up there? You look at the map for
help. It is there, but you still have no means of getting up there.
Then you see something on the map that puts a smile on your face. Of
course! There is Dragonwood Forest, just a little ways from where you
are now! Colossus can give you a ride up there! Besides, he needs to
give you a ride to Nightmareland after, anyway. You feel a little
shiver at the thought of returning there. But you must do it, so you
and Camelot head in the direction of Dragonwood Forest. You and
Camelot enter the woods, following a dirt path. After walking for
about forty-five minutes, you come upon some blackened trees, and you
see three huge dragons sitting in a clearing, chatting, with little
puffs of smoke escaping their nostrils. One of them is Zagamite, a
black dragon that you saved from Nightmareland in another adventure.
The other is Colossus, the white dragon with red eyes who helped you
save Zagamite. The last is an emerald dragon, who you do not know. You
hop off Camelot. Colossus spots you and says, “Wellllcomme!! Hero, it
has been awhile!” Well, he obviously hasn’t been affected by the
curse. You say hello and ask him why he hasn’t been affected. He says,
“Oh, when Galeideth cast the anti-anger spell, he got to us just in
time…the other dragons weren’t so lucky. That’s why we aren’t in town.
The rest of the dragons have gone batty! We don’t really feel like
being turned into charcoal, ya know? So what’s up, Hero dude?” You
tell him about what your quest is and that you need some help in high
places. He says, “Ahhh, ya want me to be your personal escort to Snow
Cloud Island and gulp--Nightmareland! Well, hop on buddy! Bye, you
guys, and take care of Camelot! Don’t get burned!” So you hop onto
Colossus and wave goodbye to Zagamite and his friend.
After you have been flying a little while, you come upon a big fluffy
cloud high up in the air. Colossus lands and you hop off. Then as you
walk around on the ground, you realize that it is snow that you are
walking on! And, the snow has a splendid opalescent hue! You pick up a
snowball and pack it firmly in your hands. Then, you look up to see a
castle made entirely out of ice. You enter the castle and see an ice
throne with a woman sitting on it. Her skin is very pale, and her eyes
are icy blue. Her lips seem bloodless, almost blue, in this cold air.
Her dress is blue with clear beads dangling from edges, and she is
wearing a necklace made out of ice. She asks, “Can I be of any
assistance to you?” Despite her cold appearance, her voice is warm and
friendly. You tell her about your quest and that you need her to cast
a stay-frozen spell on the opal snow. She says, “Why of course I would
do that, for my old friend King Galeideth. By the way, my name is
Icera, Goddess of Winter. Come here, and I will put a spell on the
snow right away.” You walk over to her and she points her finger at
the snowball. “Ah,” she says, “Perfectly frozen. Now, if you have
time, you can have a meal and then you can be off on your merry way.”
You tell her that you are going to Nightmareland, and that you will
now be too merry then, but you say you will stay and have something to
eat. “Good! I will cook right now! How about pizza? You humans like
that, right?” You nod your head yes, and she points her finger at a
table and there is a nice hot pizza and a drink, instantly! She says,
“Eat up before it freezes! Heeehee! I know, it is very cold for
humans up here.” So you eat quickly, and have some desert, too. Ice
cream, of course! Then you thank her and you say goodbye, and you get
back on Colossus, ready for anything.
As soon as you begin to take off, Colossus heads for Nightmareland.
You can tell because the edge of the island-like land that Dreamland
is, is approaching fast. Now you are past Dreamland, have put the
peaceful land behind you, and already, you can see Nightmareland, the
horrible opposite of Dreamland, miles away but it will only take a
matter of minutes with Colossus’s tremendous speed. With a swift drop,
and a gentle landing, you arrive in Nightmareland. Colossus has
dropped you off right at the edge of a huge body of water, with dark
woods behind you. The water is silvery, it’s depth unknown. And in the
distance, you can see an island. You wonder why colossus didn’t drop
you off directly on the island? Colossus says, “Hey, you're gonna have
to row over to The Isle of the Myths, because there are evil dragons
living over there, as well as other nasty creatures, and I don’t want
to get my butt burned, so you can take that boat over there that is
tied to the shore. Sorry, dude…I promise I’ll stay right here and wait
for you to come back!” You give him a dirty look and then you walk
over to the boat to inspect it. It’s more like a piece of driftwood!
It is small, and there is a hole plugged up by a rock in the bottom,
but it has to suffice. There are oars lying in the floor of the boat,
so you get in, untie it, and then begin to row to the somber,
mysterious island. You glide through the silvery water, the sky high
above you a crimson color and the moon black against a red background,
and there are not many stars in sight. How would you even know that,
living in Dreamland, there was such a terrible world existing right
next to it. Those people over there are oblivious to this world, you
think. Now, you are almost to the island. Now you can see it clearly.
The whole island is covered by a dark, dense jungle, the perfect
breeding ground for monsters and the like. So this is The Isle of the
Myths. You are already getting shivers from the looks of things. As
you are nearing the shore, you feel something brush up against your
left shoulder. You look, and there is a huge, serpentine head staring
at you through glassy red eyes, with a mouth full of sharp, protruding
fangs! A sea serpent! You quickly dig the White Crystal out of your
bag, as the serpent opens its jaws wide to down you whole! There it
is! You point the White Crystal at it and say, “Serpent, by the power
of the White Crystal, you have met your demise!” A white beam of light
shoots at the sea serpent and a light encloses his entire body, making
him fall limp. But, he’s sinking! You promptly grab the dagger and
slice off a scale from his face, just before he sinks into the depths.
Phew…you breathe a sigh of relief and you finish rowing to the shore.
When you get there, you tie the boat up and you make your way into the
jungle, not going too far as not to get lost. There is a stream
running through the jungle, but it seems strange to you. You take a
closer look and realize that water is not flowing, but blood! You
shiver, and continue to follow the dreadful stream, into the harrowing
darkness. Out of nowhere, there is a loud screeching, and some sort of
horse cuts off your path. A unicorn! The unicorn has a horn that is
about a foot long, and very long and pointy. He is black in color, and
his tail is made of pure flowing fire, as is its mane! He rushes at
you, headfirst, to slice you with his knifelike horn! You duck out of
the way just as he is about to stab you. You take the White Crystal
and point it at the creature and say, “Unicorn, by the power of the
White Crystal, you have met your demise!” the crystal again shoots out
a ray of light and surrounds the unicorn in white light, and it falls
to the ground. To your surprise, the horn falls off as soon as the
unicorn hits the ground. They must lose their horn when they die. So
you pick up the horn and place it in your bag. Well, now that you have
the scale and the horn, you still need to find a dragon, which seems
to you the most dangerous one of all, so you equip yourself with the
shield Solomon gave you, to block any fiery attacks. You have the
White Crystal ready and at hand. You walk along, still following the
stream, deeper into the jungle. After awhile, you see some blackened
trees. You know from experience that dragons are around. All of a
sudden, in a gust of wind, a massive blue dragon with scarlet eyes
lands in front of you and exhales liquid fire in your direction, just
as you raise the heavy shield. The shield blocks the fire from burning
you to a crisp. From behind your shield, look out cautiously to see
what the dragon is doing. He is looking at you, flabbergasted at why
his fire didn’t burn you to embers! Now is your chance! You
instantaneously whip out the White Crystal and recite the words,
“Dragon, by the power of the White Crystal, you have met your demise!”
and with a swift white beam and an enveloping light, the dragon falls.
You rush over and try to pull out a tooth, but it is stuck in there!
So you take the dagger and pry it out. Hmm…makes you feel a bit like a
dentist. You get the tooth, and you run back to the boat at once, to
avoid unneeded battle with another mythical monster. You get in the
boat, and paddle back to where Colossus is waiting.
When you get back onto dry land, you walk over to Colossus and he says
to you, “Okay Hero, you said you have a week to complete this mission.
How many days have passes since then?” You tell him that about four
days have passed. So he says, “Well, that gives you three days left.
Let’s hurry to Sorceress Adelleine. Her fortress isn’t far from here,
so let’s walk. It’s safer, anyway because I saw some dragons flying
around up there, and I don’t want to get into any lengthy battles.
I’ll morph into my smaller size so we are more inconspicuous. Let’s
go!” With a puff of smoke and a loud pop, Colossus shrinks to about
the size of your hand. Now you begin to travel in the direction that
Colossus tells you to. After walking through some woods and fields,
you come upon a desert, and at the far end, you can just see a looming
black fortress. Colossus says, “At the other end of this desert is the
Sorceress Adelleine’s Fortress. C’mon, let’s get going.” So you two
journey through the yellow sands, towards the fortress. Soon, you come
upon a huge hourglass, almost as tall as you. Colossus says, “Oh, I
forgot to tell you, Hero. This desert is called The Hourglass Desert.
Adelleine built it to protect her fortress, by using special sand
called “sand of time.” Walking through this desert, people can get
lost in time and lose hours, days, or even years. But if you keep your
mind set to going towards the fortress and not thinking about anything
else, you will be fine. I know you can do it!” You gulp and begin to
walk slowly, staring at the fortress hard and thinking only about
that. But soon another thought enters your mind. How will you fight
Adelleine? All of a sudden, you feel a little dizzy, but then you keep
going. You try to keep your mind focused on the fortress, but your
mind wanders again. I hope I make it back on time. You feel dizzy
again, but you continue on. Soon, you reach the end of the desert. As
soon as you get there, Colossus screams at you. “Hero! Your mind must
have wandered twice, because you lost two days! I didn’t dare tell you
at the time, for my words would have surely taken your mind off the
fortress! Now, you only have one day left! We better hurry, and on the
way back, we’re flying over that desert!”
You walk over to the open drawbridge of the fortress, careful not to
fall in the bubbling green water of the moat below. You enter into a
hall with a black carpet that leads to a single door, and soon, the
door opens. In walks a woman, clad in an elaborate gown made out of
black and purple silk. She has silver eyes and jet black hair.
Although she is very beautiful, her face is cold and she is smiling
wickedly at you. She speaks. “Ah, well if it isn’t the Hero Alagian
has told me all about. You have traveled a long way to try and defeat
me, and I have watched every step you took in my crystal ball. I must
say, you have done well, even though you have lost two precious days
in my sands of time. But Hero, this is the end of the line. I can just
let you go peacefully, and you can forget all about Galeideth’s little
quest. SO what if everyone is grumpy and there is no vegetation? That
is just the way I like it. But I know that you will not leave
peacefully, and you will try to battle with me. Well, this is it! This
is your last day with the living, Hero! Farewell to you!” And then she
rises up into the air, ready for battle.
Her first attack is a ball of light that she throws at you. You block
the spell with your shield. She says, “Where did you get THAT?! From
Solomon, no doubt! Don’t worry, it won’t protect you for long!” She
then points her finger at you and the shield is knocked out of your
hands! Immediately, you grab for the shield, but she is too quick. She
points her finger and screams, “Slow Magic!” Suddenly, you feel a bit
sluggish, and it takes you awhile to grab your shield. She laughs, and
then throws another ball of light at you, just bouncing off the shield
in time. Everything seems to be happening in slow motion. You walk
around the room, trying to shoot beams at her with the White Crystal.
But you are too slow and the shield gets knocked away many times. She
says, “Oh, this is too easy! Dispel Slow Magic!” And she points a
finger at you once again, and you let it hit, eager not to be slow
anymore. When you have speeded up, you begin to use the White Crystal,
but you always miss, since she is always moving. When one beam just
barely misses her face, she knocks your shield away and screams,
“Enough! I’ve had enough! Ultima Black Death Magic! Now!” The room
goes black, as Adelleine uses both hands to form a huge purple
swirling ball of light. The ball gets bigger and bigger, and as she is
summoning the magical spell, you have your last chance to try and hit
her with white magic. You raise the White Crystal, pointing it
straight at her face, and say, “Sorceress Adelleine! I counter your
Ultima Black Death Magic with my White Magic. I banish your soul to
the realm between life and death, never to return!” In a huge burst of
purple and white light the two spells are unleashed at the same exact
time, colliding at the center. The white magic dominates the black,
however, and the black magic is dispelled. The white continues its way
straight towards Adelleine. When it hits, you see an amazing sight.
Her body is engulfed by a fiery white orb, and then it falls to the
ground, still glowing. Then her soul rises out of the body and you
hear a voice, “My soul is still alive, Hero. That was foolish of you!
You should have destroyed me while you had the chance! This is not the
last you’ll see of me!” Just then, a huge, black gaping hole opens up
in the middle of the room. Adelleine’s soul is sucked into the
swirling blackness, and the hole closes up. Then, with great relief,
you run over to the body and prick the finger with a pin, and squeeze
a few drops of Adelleine’s blood into one of your vials. But as you
are collecting the last ingredient for the potion, you hear a low
rumbling noise. Then, all the windows shatter and shards of glass are
thrown at you. The low rumbling becomes a violent shaking, and pieces
of rock from the fortress begin to break off and rain down around you!
You dodge the falling rocks, and you look for Colossus. He is waiting
near the entrance. There is a loud pop and Colossus stands there in
his full size when the smoke clears. He says, “Quick! Hop on and then
we’ll blow this joint!” SO you get on as fast as possible and Colossus
flies quickly away from the ruins of Sorceress Adelleine’s Fortress.
You are so tired that you fall asleep.
When you wake up, you are just approaching Dreamland, the horrible
realm of Nightmareland far behind you. It is late at night. Then
Colossus says, “Hey, Hero! You’ve woken up! Well, it’s about midnight,
and you need to get the potion to Listiah before dawn. I guess my old
buddy Solomon will help you make it, so I’ll drop you off at his
cottage in the Blue Mountains. Then, as you know, Dreamland Castle is
only about a half-hour walk from his cottage. Oh! I just wanted to
tell you one thing! When you left Camelot with my buddies in
Dragonwood Forest, they said they would take good care of him. He is
still there. Since I can talk with other animals, I’ll tell him that
you will be at Dreamland Castle and to come and find you there. I am
going to go back now, and you make sure you call me if there is going
to be a feast or something, okay? Bye, Hero! You did a great job!”
Colossus drops you off in front of Solomon’s cottage. You wave goodbye
to him as he flies off towards Dragonwood Forest. Then, you knock on
Solomon’s door. He says, “Come on in.” You go inside, and there is
Solomon, smiling. He says, “You really took your time, huh? Well, you
still have till dawn, so let’s make that potion.” So you take out all
the ingredients: the Light Crystal, the Clamarina Pearl, the Water
from The Fountain of Happiness, the Opal Snow, the Ridine Bella, the
Sea Serpent’s Scale, the Unicorn’s Horn, the Dragon’s Tooth, and
Adelleine’s Blood. Solomon does some mashing and mixing, and when he
is done, he pours the orange mixture into a flask, and puts a cork
stopper in it. Then he says, “Okay, now hurry to the castle, and tell
King Galeideth to let her drink the whole contents of the flask. I’ll
see you at the feast, because you know Galeideth will be so happy that
he will plan a feast in your honor!” You wave goodbye to him and you
leave the cottage, and you walk down the Blue Mountain path. When you
get to Dreamland Castle, you run through the main hall into the Royal
Sleeping Quarters, to Listiah’s room, where everyone is still huddled
around her. Galeideth greets you and says, “You got the potion!
Wonderful!” Then you tell him to give Listiah the whole potion. She
drinks it down, and it takes an immediate effect on her. She smiles
and says, “I feel so happy!” Suddenly, everything just feels happier
and lighthearted. King Galeideth says, “I am already feeling the
effect of Listiah’s happiness! The Goddess of Happiness is lifted of
the evil anger-sadness curse! And, it is all because of this brave
Hero’s quest! I declare a feast! Hero, you wash up and get some rest,
and at midday today, everyone shall gather at the Royal Feast Hall.
Royal messengers, call upon every person and beast in this kingdom!”
Then, a servant takes you to a room. You fall asleep immediately on
the soft bed.
When you wake up, you get cleaned up in the washroom, and you put on
some fresh clothes provided for you. Then you make your way to the
Royal Feast Hall. Inside, everyone is waiting for you! There is
everyone you have ever met, old friends and new. You have a good time
at the feast, and there is singing and dancing and laughing. When it
is all over, everyone leaves and it is just you, King Galeideth, and
Listiah. King Galeideth says, “Thank you again, for your valiant
efforts to save my peaceful land.” Then Listiah speaks. “Hero, my
father has told me so much about you. You are truly brave and
courageous. Return anytime to this land for you are more than welcome.
Thank you ever so much.” She is beaming. You wave goodbye and you
wish upon your stone to return home. You appear in your room, lying in
your bed, as if you have just awoken from a wonderful dream. Then, you
feel something in your pocket. You take it out. It is 2050 dreamers,
that you didn’t spend. You get up, and put it in your dresser drawer
with all your other souvenirs from Dreamland. With a smile, you know
that if you told anyone else about these adventures, they wouldn’t
believe you. But you have the wonderful memories, and the ability to
return there anytime. And you know, in your heart, you will return
soon for another adventure, for more fun. For now, you lay back down
in bed and dream sweet dreams of your beloved Dreamland.
After the recovering of the elemental stone, Dreamland once again
began to thrive and prosper, and all was well, for a time. But an
unfortunate event has occurred. King Galeideth’s daughter Listiah has
fallen under a curse from a sorceress named Adelleine, and now Listiah
must be dispelled of this curse soon, before she is gone forever. It
is once again time for the valiant Hero of Dreamland to save the day…
